In Mac OS High Sierra (v. 10.13.1), my Office 365 suite (aka Office 2016, v.15.40) is working fine (create, save, etc), but all files created with the Office apps are displaying on my desktop with generic icons -- e.g., Word docs appear as white rectangles labeled with 'docx' instead of the normal graphic icon: the white 'W' on a blue cover over a ruled page; Excel files appear as horizontal white rectangles labeled with the file name and 'XLSX' instead of a normal green 'X' cover over a page of black & green cells. Assigned file names appear normally below the generic icons. The icon display problem can be fixed one-at-a-time by going individually into each file's INFO sheet and pasting in a normal icon graphic copied from the Word app INFO sheet, but obviously, that's not a practical solution. (Oddly, each file with a generic icon seems to have a normal-looking icon in its INFO sheet. But when you do the paste, the desktop icon flips to normal.) No satisfactory answers from Microsoft yet, except to advise me to update all my software, and to insist that Office 2016 'is fully supported' in Mac OS High Sierra. Anyone have an idea why this icon display problem is happening, and what might be done to fix it, short of waiting for an Apple or Microsoft update? Hi, So Word 2016 icon doesn't show on associated (.docx) files. Try to right click on any of the files, select 'Open with.' From the context menu, then choose Word 2016 as the default application to open this type of files. Make sure to tick the checkbox of 'Use this app for all.docx files.' If this doesn't correct the issue, then I would suggest you repair Office installation from Control Panel, and see if issue persists. This will re-register all the Office applications as the default application for Office files. Office apps, including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel, support inserting and editing SVG files. Insert an SVG file in Office for Windows: Drag and drop the file from Windows File Explorer into your document. Insert an SVG file in Office for Mac: Go to Insert > Pictures. Hope this helps.
